Our motto: "Building community leadership, one child at a time." Our Status: Rose City Gymnastics Academy is an Oregon nonprofit school. We are certified as a Sec. 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation by the IRS. Our federal non-profit tax ID number is 93-1278867. We are a member club of USA Gymnastics (Club No. 026485), the organization which manages the USA National Olympic Gymnastics Team. Our Method: Gymnastics is an extraordinary sport that develops flexibility, strength, grace, discipline, control, coordination, goal orientation, confidence, creativity, leadership, a healthy body and positive self-esteem. Through hard work and dedication, gymnasts can improve their abilities and possibly even represent the United States in major competitions. Athletes’ goals and objectives vary when participating in the sport of gymnastics. Different goals for gymnasts include participating in a weekly gymnastics class for fun and recreation, performing in exhibitions, competing in the Junior Olympic program, earning a college scholarship, or even making a World Championships team. We build character, self-confidence, and leadership through gymnastics training, music arts, competitions, and related social programs with an emphasis on urban youth. Our History: For more than twelve years Rose City Gymnastics has been serving the Portland, Oregon community with its artistic gymnastics and other educational programs designed for the modern urban family. We originally started as a community gymnastics program section of the YWCA. In 1999, we incorporated the program separately from YWCA as "Rose City Gymnastics", and later as "Rose City Gymnastics Academy". Current Programs and Activities:Gymnastics Classes. Recreational gymnastics and fitness programs for boys and girls of all ages, adult recreation gymnastics and fitness programs for men & women of all ages, an award-winning competition level girls gymnastics team, teen extreme athletic classes to enhance and supplement other athletic sports, an indoor play park, a parent's night out program, birthday parties and events, and a summer camp program.Rose City Team: The Rose City Team is the award-winning Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team representing Portland, Oregon in USA Gymnastics, the sole national governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the United States. This designation comes from the U.S. Olympic Committee, and the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG). About USA Gymnastics: USA Gymnastics sets the rules and policies that govern gymnastics in the United States. USA Gymnastics has many responsibilities, including selecting and training the U.S. Gymnastics Teams for Olympic Games and World Championships; promoting and developing gymnastics on a grassroots and national level; and serving as a resource center for member clubs, fans and gymnasts throughout the United States. Music Arts. The Academy operates a web-based public radio station to promote its community activities. The station features local area independent artists, and provides learning opportunities for inner city youth while providing a unique musical and cultural experience for our public listeners. Volunteer Program: There are many opportunities for volunteers at Rose City Gymnastics Academy, including coaching staff, events staff, and team parents club.
